Argentina’s Los Glaciares National Park has almost fifty glaciers within its boundaries but there is one that really is the icing on the cake (so to speak).

The Perito Moreno Glacier is located 80 kilometres west of El Calafate and is the largest of them all and by far the most impressive to see up close. The terminal face of the glacier towers 75 meters above the milky blue waters of Lago Argentino and stretches 5 kilometres wide.

You will spend a few hours following a series of boardwalks that offer panoramic viewpoints to snap photos of this natural wonder. If you are lucky, you will witness the glacier calve: large chunks of ice frequently crumble off the terminal face and crash loudly into the waters of Lago Argentino. Not only the visuals of truck-sized chunks of glacier ice falling into the water, but the accompanying sounds that come from the cracking and shifting of the glacier that makes it an experience you will remember for a lifetime!

Visiting Glaciar Perito Moreno to marvel at the immensity and sublime beauty of one of

Patagonia’s most stunning sights will be the highlight of the Patagonia Tour.
