Itinerary
Day 1: Friday, July 31/ Departure Day
Today we meet at the airport to begin a wonderful journey.
Day 2: Saturday, August 1 / Arrive Frankfurt -To Eisenach
This morning we arrive in Frankfurt and are met by our guide and coach driver. We will travel to the historic town of Eisenach, located in the forested hills and farms of
central Germany. After checking into our hotel, we’ll have the rest of the day to ourselves before gathering for a welcome dinner. (D)
Day 3: Sunday, August 2 / Eisenach-Wartburg Castle
Today we tour Eisenach, where Martin Luther attended school. We’ll visit the Luther House and also Bach House to learn more about the life of Johann Sebastian Bach. In the afternoon we visit Wartburg Castle where Luther hid for ten months after the Diet of Worms. During this time,he translated the New Testament into German. (B,D)
Day 4: Monday, August 3 / Erfurt-Eisleben -Wittenberg
This morning we travel to Erfurt where Luther attended university and joined the Augustinian Monastery. Our city tour will feature the monastery, the cathedral and the Kramer Bridge. Then we continue to Eisleben to visit the houses where Luther was born and where he died. We also visit St. Andrea’s Church where Luther preached his last sermon. Afterwards we travel to Lutherstadt Wittenberg. (B,D)
Day 5: Tuesday, August 4 / Wittenberg Sightseeing
Wittenberg, the cradle of the Reformation, is waiting for us. We’ll tour the town where Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the Schlosskirche on October 31, 1517. In Luther’s time this was the University Chapel and the doors were used as a bulletin board. Luther preached here often and in the City Church of St. Mary. (B,D)
Day 6: Wednesday, August 5 / Berlin
Today we’ll travel to Berlin. Upon arrival, we will take an orientation tour of the city. We’ll see the famous sites, including the Brandenburg Gate, Holocaust Memorial and Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church.The history of the divided Berlin comes alive when we discover remnants of the Berlin Wall and visit the official Wall Memorial Site. We’ll finish our afternoon off with a boat cruise through the historical part of Berlin. (B,D)
Day 7: Thursday, August 6 / Berlin-Potsdam-Berlin
This morning we’ll drive to Potsdam and tour Sanssouci Castle, once the summer home of Frederick the Great, former King of Prussia. Its magnificent gardens and vineyard terraces, breathtaking structures and wealth of greenery will transport you
back to another era. After lunch we’ll enjoy a guided tour of Potsdam –a city packed full of history and culture. (B,D)
Day 8: Friday, August 7 / Berlin-Potsdam-Berlin
We leave Berlin this morning, travelling to Dresden, a city that was destroyed by bombing near the end of World War II.
Luther visited Dresden in 1516 and 1517 and preached to the Saxon Royal court in the castle chapel (now a theatre). Next, we’ll visit the majestic Church of Our Lady, and then the world-famous Zwinger Palace, which is one of the most magnificent Baroque buildings in Germany. Then we cross the border into the Czech Republic and travel to its capital city –Prague, where John Hus, one of the forerunners of the

Day 9: Saturday, August 8 / Prague Sightseeing
Our tour of Prague takes us to the ancient Hradcany complex, including Prague Castle and a visit to St. Vitus Cathedral.
Afterwards we walk across Charles Bridge to visit the Old Town Square and see the
famous astronomical clock. The afternoon is ours to explore. We’ll gather in the evening for a local dinner & folklore show. (B,D)
Day 10: Sunday, August 9 / Nuremberg
This morning we head back to Germany and enjoy a tour of Nuremberg. Starting at
the famous Imperial Castle, our tour takes us along major architectural and artistic
highlights of the historic city which had its Golden Age in the late middle ages.
Nuremberg also was the first German town which, already in 1525, joined the Reformation. It was from here that Martin Luther began his journey to Rome in 1510. (B,D)
Day 11: Monday, August 10 / Munich
Following breakfast in our hotel we travel to Oberammergau via Augsburg. Augsburg was Germany’s business center in the 16th century. The Fugger family had their headquarters here, organizing global trade from Augsburg. They financed a movement which led to the Reformation.
We continue to the “Passion Play” village of Oberammergau where we can anticipate the big day tomorrow.**Accommodations maybe outside of Oberammergau. (B,D)
Day 12: Tuesday, August 11 /Oberammergau
This is the day where we enjoy the original Passion Play, held every ten years, and performed by the inhabitants of Oberammergau. We will enjoy a lunch before the passion play starts in the afternoon. Dinner will be included in a break of the performance. (B,D)
Day 13: Wednesday, August 12 / Munich
Following breakfast in our hotel we’ll make our way to Munich. After lunch we’ll enjoy a guided Munich city tour. As our tour comes to an end, we will gather tonight
for our farewell dinner at a typical Bavarian restaurant. (B,D)
Day 14: Thursday, August 13 / Munich
This morning we’ll get transferred to the airport to board our home-bound flights after a memorable tour of Europe. (B)
